Mild Steel (A1008)
1008/1010 cold rolled (ASTM A1008)
The everyday fabrication steel: strong, affordable, easy to weld and paint. The right call for brackets, fixtures, and anything that gets powder coated — just keep it dry or finished, since bare mild steel will rust.

2024-T3 Aluminum
2024-T3 (ASTM B209)
The classic aircraft-structure alloy: strength close to mild steel at a third of the weight. The pick for high-stress brackets and fittings — note it doesn't weld well, so design for fasteners.

7075-T6 Aluminum
7075-T6 (ASTM B209)
Among the strongest aluminum alloys made — yield strength in rebar territory. For parts where stiffness and strength-to-weight are everything; skip it if you plan to bend or weld.
